Smart Cities

Expected impacts from climate events in Bulgaria include damage to buildings and urban infrastructure, health effects, endangered key services including food supply and electricity, reduced mobility and accessibility and water stress, as well as increased financial pressure on municipalities for infrastructure maintenance and for emergency aid facilities and staff.

Your challenge:

Your design should encourage the public to use more renewable energy sources, which can lower the prices of and demand for natural gas and coal by increasing competition and diversifying our energy supplies. And an increased reliance on renewable energy can help protect consumers when fossil fuel prices spike.

Make your home more energy-efficient

If you live in a state that allows you to choose your energy supplier, the first thing you should do is look for a supplier that uses renewable energy sources. For instance, a coal-fired power plant burns fossil fuel and is more harmful to the environment than wind power or solar power. Ensure your home is adequately insulated and that doors and windows are sealed with weather stripping to prevent cooled and heated air from escaping.
